OUR MO‘OLELO

Meet Kawai

Inspired by her daughter’s love for headbands, she decided to put her sewing skills to the test. Being that they love all things fashion, this was right up their alley.

How the word MĪKOHU came to be is simple. MĪKOHU in Hawaiian means Becoming! It is one of her favorite words and has an elegance she loves. It reminds her of her mother & grandmother who both have a keen eye for detail, deals, & upcycling. They occasionally use it to describe one’s beauty, appearance, and sometimes character when something or someone catches their attention in the most beautiful way. The definition of MĪKOHU (becoming) means; something that looks good on or suits someone.

“I felt the name MĪKOHU was quite fitting because our designs and creations are made with Aloha in the Seams and Aloha looks good on everyone.”

Bringing MĪKOHU to life with her daughter is what she enjoys most. They love the fact that they can Up Your Style or Keep It Casual with a simple headband. However, even though their mama & daughter business started out with headbands, the fun doesn’t end there. They’ve since added other accessories to the MĪKOHU ‘ohana that are sure to compliment your every look!
